I emailed Jukka Manner about the jpeg quality produced by cfx_image a
long time ago - he said that it's optimized for gifs and changing it to
generate better jpg quality would make it unacceptably slow.

We created our own image processing tag - cfx_pwimageproc - it's not
free (US $99) but it does a good job on jpegs and pngs. As well as
resizing it does borders, multiple text stamping, multiple
watermarking/image stamping, rotating, adjustment of hue, saturation,
rgb values, brightness, contrast and so on. The new version also has
security features for shared hosting. It's at
http://developer.perthweb.com.au - download a demo if you're interested.
