Not for the Windows platform, just for Microsoft software, for the 
Windows platform you run the notification tool on. And then only when 
the patch comes out, not when the problem is made public (there can be 
several months in between).
On a server, an icon in the systray is not very usefull, and on a 
client, you might miss updates that are specific for the server. All 
together, this feature is more for the home user as for a sys admin.


And for the people on the bottom on the food chain it is important that 
CERT has some respectability. It is nice to be able to say "but CERT 
didn't send out a warning" when everything goes to hell and you need to 
cover your ***.
