Had this problem the other day myself but didn't use JavaScript (used CFIF)
but I was searching for answers on Allaire's site and found some stuff on
doing it with JavaScript in their forums.

This is a long question. Please be patient with the
question.
I have a form which has to have more than one submit
button.
But, each submit button will have to have a different
fuseaction.
Also, for one of the submit buttons, a message box
should appear if the user has not selected something
from the drop down menu.
Can this be done in Javascript? Or is it better to use
<CFFORM></CFFORM> tag? if so, can someone please help
me in figuring out how to do it?
