I normally try to contain myself, but sometimes people forget that politeness is a virtue, and that logic is more suitable for discussion than rhetoric and ad-hominem attacks. > You can try to resist the future if you will, but the reality > is that it's coming right for you. Who knows what the future may bring? I'm a fan of the RIA concept, to a degree, but I wouldn't be completely surprised if, five years from now, we're still in about the same place as we are now. The RIA concept isn't new. I've worked with at least two previous iterations myself. You may have heard of the companies behind these iterations, perhaps: Sun (Java) and Microsoft (ActiveX). Both were heralded as "HTML killers". I remember attending Internet World ('97 or '98, I think), and seeing everyone talking about how, a year from then, no one would write another HTML page. And yet, here I am, hip-deep in HTML to this day. Now, sure, Flash has some significant advantages over its predecessors. It's ubiquitous, it doesn't require a huge download, it's more bandwidth-friendly generally, it's easier to write, it's cross-platform. That doesn't guarantee it's the future, though. It still has plenty of shortcomings. > Deal with it and as we say in our office, get over yourself. Your office sounds like an unpleasant place.
