All responses to this thread have been pretty much on the mark and helpful (I always love regex answers, but that's me...)
But more to the point: Why are USERS of the system allowed to set the formatting of dates EXPLICITLY? Sure, give them a default/several defaults to select, and then some options for "personalization" - but why allow them to actually enter the MASK needed. Average User: What the hell is a "mask"? Give them checkbox/radio button options, but DON'T allow them to physically (text box) enter a mask. Who the hell does this help? Based on the radio button/checkbox entries, you can create a custom mask for that user. Which is all the user wants. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=4 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=4 FAQ: http://www.thenetprofits.co.uk/coldfusion/faq Signup for the Fusion Authority news alert and keep up with the latest news in ColdFusion and related topics. http://www.fusionauthority.com/signup.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.4
