I had a similar issue with some long strings getting truncated using SQL Server and 
didn't seem to be able to get the long-text retreival checkbox to fix it... My 
solution at the time was to increase the text buffer size from 65000 to ... I think 
it's something like 900,000 that's the maximum... I don't remember offhand... accept 
that I think it was something like 1-5mb of data, so I figured I wasn't likely to have 
a text string longer than that.
