I have experienced situations in which a program does not execute. It was some time ago so I don't know if any of the updaters might have fixed it but the program was image ALCHEMY.EXE (handmadesoftware.com) and it worked fine in CF5... but wouldn't run in CFMX. I opted to use ImageMagick instead (imagemagick.org).
