Yes, you can run any configuration of CFMX 6.1, "standalone" or J2EE, as a
single-user developer version. If your developers are going to write code on
their workstations that will be deployed on CFMX 6.1 servers, they should
probably upgrade to 6.1, too. I'm not sure if the upgrade process allows you
to configure your machine to use J2EE, but it would be easy enough to just
uninstall their existing CFMX and install 6.1 from scratch if it doesn't.
Datasources and other configuration info could easily be archived first
using the Archive & Restore functionality in the CF Administrator.
