the issue of hits verses actual visitors is something that has been annoying
me for quite some time.

It is a lack of understanding in the community and many in the industry take
advantage of this lack of understanding and let the consumer continue to
assume hits = people when in fact this is far from the case.

The only way to combat this is to indicate you results in both hits and also
individuals so that you cannot be said to be misleading but when others are
claiming hit rates that I see no reason why you should not do the same so
that you are comparing apples with apples
