Re:CFMX and MSDE

I have installed ODBC 2.8, the problem is it's CFMX's drivers that are the issue. If I connect with an ODBC socket then it works just fine. We have another server here that is connecting just fine with SQL server. I was just curious if anyone else has run into this issue. Is it slower to be running SQL server through an ODBC socket connection?
