My advice?

Eat the $100 and give them the CFFILE tool.

You're going to run into more coding/validation and (here's the $100 issue) site problem issues with a non-validating tool.

Make a good tool, give it to them for free. Use it on other sites, use it to keep your maintenance (or reputation-bashing) costs down.

It's worth it.
