Thanks for your assistance but I'm still having the problem.  I tried <cfif IsDefined("FAQList[i].Company")> as you stated below... both with quotes and without.  


I also tried <cfif StructKeyExists   but still no luck.


the only items I'm trying to retrieve are the "Analyst' which there are only 4 at the end of the dump.  I can retrieve the first 3 but since the last one (CompanyName = UBS Warburg) does not have a "FirstName" or a "LastName", I get the original error.


I'm at a loss..
