This is very interesting and may answer why my simililarly fashioned
301 re-directs weren't sticking -- ie, if I commented out the
re-direct code, I'd start getting 404's from robots seeking pages
years old.

Can you explain that? Or another means of for me to test to see what
my IIS returns (using Win2K client)?
