I developed an iCal solution...its fairly straightforward, there a few pitfalls like the removal of Carriage Returns and Line feeds in the description.
There are different implantations of iCal from diff versions of Office so be wary of that. Also be aware that other apps do not conform at all to the spec -such as Lotus.
