Believe it or not Duane, since you ask, || is the standard SQL
operator for string concatenation as defined by the ANSI standard.
I think IBM DB2, PostgreSQL, Informix and Sybase SQL Anywhere
support it as well as Oracle.
But...
Sybase SQL Server, M$ SQL Server and Access use +
MySQL and Ingres have a concat() function.
Pervasive.SQL has three subtly different string concatenation
operators: * , + and ++
So much for standards then...
