I experimented with Joe Rinehart's jComponents accordion navigation and decided to write my own, both to learn how it works and because I want more precise control over the CSS. I've managed to fumble my way to a certain degree of success but I'm a little stuck. I would like only the first pane open on page load and only one page open at a time. Here's what I have so far - if you view source you can see my comments at lines 14 and 23.
