Yup, its definitely a pain the first time. I forgot to ask, but did you install the source files as well as the components?
http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashremoting/mx2004/components/actionscr ipt_2.0/flashremoting_comp_sourcecode.zip These need to go into your Flash Install Dir/First Run/Classes directory.
