I was looking at this service: http://www.onlinestatus.org/ as an idea we have, problem is, its crap and unreliable. If you use the jabber indicator, you get the service signing in every 30 seconds, therefor a popup and annoying 'ding'.
The crux of the idea would be to have a webservice that checks the online status of the person when the page loads and if they are available make it show, and perhaps even put in a little flash app that allows chat on the property page with the person via IM.
