To zip and unzip files? Java uses the operating system if that's what
you're referring to - it doesn't need WinZip or PKZip that I'm aware
of... ZIP is a format (open source? ... at least, I'm not aware anyone
claims copyright on the format)... So java.util.zip just examines the
file system and compresses or decrompresses those files according to
the specifications of the format.
