I posted to the list a couple weeks ago regarding some bizarre problems with an installation of CF MX 7. The purpose of this message is to document what happened.
Using both the CD install and the downloaded install file from the Macromedia web site, I was unable to get CF MX 7 running. The installation would run to completion and report only a single non-fatal error: ANT Script Error: Status: ERROR Additional Notes: ERROR - standalone.xmlUnable to delete file C:\CFusionMX7\WEB-INF\cfusion\lib\msapps.jar I spent over a week on the phone with Macromedia support and we tried lots of different stuff including running checksums on the downloaded install file, manually uninstalling the app (as per tech note http://www.macromedia.com/go/tn_19187) and checking a variety of esoteric server settings. Well into the second week of dealing with this, I was kicked up to an escalation engineer. She determined that for wholly unknown reasons, the install of CF MX 7 was incomplete -- meaning that even though the install process said it completed successfully, many, many files were still missing (not installed). We finally solved the problem when she zipped up her complete CFusionMX7 directory and uploaded it to me via FTP. I unzipped it and then we got it working.
