I didn't say it was preferable in any way.  If I were on a Windows box,
which I am, I would probably just use CFEXECUTE.  Fortunately, I don't
have to worry about portability here.

And that's preferable how?  The java method is guarenteed to work on any
CF install, while using nslookup not only requires CFEXECUTE access, but
also requires nslookup to be installed, and for the format of it's
output to never change.
