I agree with Dan, I use this same method all the time and have never had a 
problem with it. Just ensure that you setup the correct permissions to be able 
to execute in SQL.

Here's what I've done in the past to run a DTS script from SQL. I
occasionally get people telling me it didn't work for them, but I think
that's usually a permission issue:
