Never seen a performance degradation really - maybe sometimes when Java does it thang but even on 1K lines - it runs AOK.

I type for a bit, then the editor catches up. If I put a newline in, I get an echo of the line while it moves down the editor. It would scroll fine, but text edits killed it. I am on a very fast machine, I can't imagine what it does on slower ones. I bet they'll get it fixed up soon.
