The code worked because you were lucky, and the date was probabily 
formated some other way CF could guess
a valid date from the string.
With CF 7 you're just not so lucky ;-)

You're problem is that you're suplying a string as a date when you 
should supply a date.
Only functions like createdate or now() return date type values, only
createODBCdate functions create dates suitable for queries, and these 
functions take date values
as parameters, not strings.
