Well you can do it...but it's not that efficient....role your own code that keeps track of the LAST loops value of the field you want to group on....when LAST value is not equal to current value you toss in a special bit of display code (like grouping using CFOUTPUT would)....so say if the current department neq to last department...through in a departmnet title row.
