We don't buy direct from MM, so we never had a sales rep. I just had to call and ask them about this as several suppiers had said the same thing, and they blatently refused and said "tuff sh*it" basically and the sales rep also agreed that you would have to just use an existing license if you still want to use and old version of CF. So there u go, MM promote the use of their own products without licenses.

I suggest you tell your Adobe sales rep about this, since they have usually been able to take care of this in the past by selling you a license and letting you use a previous version of CF with the new license. I also suggest that you be careful about what you say about violating license usage on a non-anonymous mailing list; although it's unlikely, you could find yourself in an unpleasant situation as a result.
