We run a bespoke CMS based on CF. 6.5 million content objects (I think we generate around 50K objects per day these days), around 150-200 users (generally about 100 simultaneous users). We've been developing it for about 9 years now since CF2.0
We use Oracle as the database system, content is delivered to the delivery system as XML (generally fragements, the delivery system assembles the fragments into xml pages where are xslt transformed into html).
