Bryan,

Yep, I am still trying to get my hands around the various Adobe products and
their flavors, but I think this is what you want:
http://www.adobe.com/products/server/barcodedpaperforms/indepth.html

You can create a 2d barcode that contains the XML associated with the data
in a form. As a user moves from field to field in a form making changes,
you'll see the barcode change. And when done you can scan the barcode to
extract the data.

Subject: OT: PDF forms and barcodes

Hey All,

I've been looking at Adobe Acrobat Pro to use in the creation of PDF forms
(didgital forms which allow user input...not paper forms to be printed).

The piece of functionality I can't see in the docs is the ability to add a
unique number or barcode to the page based on the user's entries in the form
fields.

THE FLOW I IMAGINE:
1) user fills in form
2) user hits a button to genetrate a file number or barcode
3) that file number or barcode is added to the page (and stays there until
the user hits the buttton again...even between saves)

I'm sure this is possible, but not sure if the Adobe tools allow for
this....or if I need to bark up another tree?

TIA

Cheers
