As far as all the combinations are present in the page under the form of a valid link. I do not see why robots will ignore them. After all, what is the difference between <a href=www.adomain.com/catalog.cfm?item=0203&color=red> and: <a href=www.adomain.com/catalogitem203colorred.cfm> Robots will not try all possible item Id and all colors.
