Just a guess, but what about referring to in JavaScript since the main window would be parent...not sure if it is possible to do so, but worth looking into. You may also be able to do some java to accomplish this if JavaScript can't do it. The other thing would be to put a "marker" on the page that tags the db counter each time the page is hit.
