LOL.....yep...I've heard some nice thiings about ajaxCFC....too bad it wasn't ready to go when we started this huge project....too far in now to re-visit the decision ;-) That said...apart from some difficulty debugging (which you can get around fairly easily with some thought), it has been perfect for our needs (and we have modifed the general framework since we picked up CFAJAX).
