OK Denny....put down the sugar and step away slowly....I think you've had enough ;-) > I guess a down side to open source is it's transparent, so you've got no one > to blame but yourself... Yep...very true. Although now that I think about it, you can often get far less superior tech support etc from a "real company" than you do with online communities revolving around open source. I think most of us have been absolutely dumbfounded at the incompetence of some companies when supporting their own products....even with what should be simple requests. I guess the tides may be turning. I've always considered open source with caution because: 1) The projects are in constant flux so you just don't know what you'll get until you dig in 2) Support IMHO is harder because of all the "opinions" you have to sift through online to get an answer I'd say that # 1 above still holds true (not that there isn't commercial software with a fair number of "issues"), but # 2 is becoming less of a black and white issue. As I mentioned above....some companies just plain suck if you ever have to ask them for help, so it's less clear if you can get better support from commercial vs. open source applications. So there ya go Denny....munch away (still don't know what the he11 you were talking about....hehe) Cheers Bryan Stevenson B.Comm.
