Re-inventing the wheel is relative to what you're doing and the frame of
reference.

I can think of many reasons I'd go with a "vendor neutral" method of doing
something,
even if there is a really nifty built-in way of doing what you want.

Not saying all or nothing, it's a balancing act and whatnot, but depending
on how far
down the road you're looking, and what your goals are, re-inventing the
wheel sometimes
isn't. In the first 4 mins, it looks pretty wheel shaped, but 30 min later
you realize it's
a...

Well, who knows. Maybe some code needs to run in a couple of places, one of
which
not being CF? Could be a lot of stuff.. but cfquery is really cool, hells
yeah.

It's also a bain cuz it's sooooo easy. Ah, CF... What a language!

Anyways, I reckon if you got it set up right, you'd only need to change one
piece of
code to use either method.

Man, it's still hard to wrap my head around some of the Pragmatic Programmer
concepts. First there was night and day, then oceans- more and more
delineation...

I have trouble figuring out where to draw the line, yes I do. [=

Hmm... hibernate... fergot about that one... hmmmm.....
