Ok, what am I doing wrong?  I unzipped the files into the lib folder.  I 
created a DSN with the settings you described.  I rebooted the server.  I get 
this error on a verify connections:

Connection verification failed for datasource: test
java.lang.ThreadDeath: null
The root cause was that: java.lang.ThreadDeath

Sounds intimidating....
