Ajax is just JS, it doesn't really require an install so any language which can call / use an XMLhttp object will server you just fine.
Microsoft obviously has it's own implementation of it - it used to be called Atlas now I think it is just Microsoft Ajax. Any one of the Frameworks out their should work with either ColdFusion or ..NET.
