I'm not in tune with the client/server side validation discussion that 
was going on but I have noticed many sites taking a similar stance as 
Gap.com. The JS libs coming out today make it too easy to add very 
attractive features to a site and kind of forces a site to choose 
between coolness or accessibility.

Unfortunately, the former seems to take precedence way too often and 
many developers see progressive enhancement as a burden instead of a 
benefit.
