It would be best to use mod_rewrite. If you do not have access to the server to add this ISAPI filter. Then you can write this in code, but as people have been saying is that the url needs to be parsed, that means the SES friendly option can be a specific format or you can store them as name value pairs to be parsed back to CF variables.
For an example, Rays Blog CFC is a good example on it being done via code, but Ray uses a specific format for that to occur.
