I still can't believe what I'm hearing. I've been using the alternate SSL providers for years, and have NEVER run into issues. They use chained SSL certificates, meaning that their certificate is signed by a intermediate CA who's certificate is signed by the root CA. As long as the root CA is recognized by the browser, and your server sends the intermediate certificate along with your certificate, the chain should complete and validate. I have never seen this a problem, but then again I don't have my security settings way up, which is maybe what's causing the issue for you? Or have I just been lucky? For instance, I have a goddaddy reseller cert from 6/13/2006. It's issued by Starfield Secure Certification Authority, and in turn it's validated by http://www.valicert.com/ (which is a Builtin Object on firefox - Buildtin Object Token:ValiCert Class 2 VA). Are you guys saying that these types of certs are giving warnings in firefox?
