Is anyone else having "issues"? I guess this is more of a rant but I'd like
to know if anyone else has been working on 3D-Secure this week (and last)
and has as many issues with the scheme as I seem to be having...

I've implemented the 3D-Secure mechanism as per the new regulations for
Maestro cards in the UK and followed the advice of the payment gateway
(Protx) to turn on 3D-Secure for all types of card. The Payment gateway
simulator and test rigs worked fine with the integration work and I set
everything live after much testing before the July 1st deadline. No
problems... I even went through the process live with my MC and VISA card
and did some test transactions. Everything was fine.

The problems however started on Monday with some site customers are being
redirected to completely unbranded URLs that are neither ours, our payment
gateways *OR* their banks and are being asked to enter passwords to
authenticate themselves. The thing looks like an XSS site hijack and the
customers are abandoning their cart. The redirect isn't a hijack but the
screenshots customers have sent are not promising!

Then, today, I've found out that some VISA and MasterCard cards don't
actually work with 3D-Secure at the moment *at all*. Particular cards that
are not working are the MBNA Mastercard and the BarclayCard VISA credit
cards. Again, the customers are redirected to plain white HTML pages with
text saying their IP address is forbidden *OR* their bank has been
de-activated from the 3D-Secure scheme....

Customers are irate, I am irate, the payment gateway is irate, the banks are
ignoring the problem. Fun.

Paul
