Sean Corfield has pointed out that the directory watcher supplied with CF7 is really an example of the capabilities of the event gateway feature of CF7 and is NOT production quality robust code. The source code of the directory watcher is supplied with CF7.
So it looks like I'll have to dive into the Java code and work out the bugs. I hope I don't have to re-write it to make it work robustly.
