hi thanks for your comments, at least i have some explanation to it now. your right also about populating the form from js. we are actually using a js grid with now way to get the data out and back to the server unless after the user has entered some information and click save we populate hidden form fields with the data they entered then post it to the actionpage which is the reason why we have done it like this
