It is very dependent upon the market in the area you are looking at. A mid-level developer at 55k in the south (and that's low) should expect 75k-80k for the same type of position in DC (cost of living is that much different). Still not sure how developers survive in California. Leastways not at the rates I've seen offered... (and, yes, I have lived in these markets)
