I was just perusing my sitelogs and noticed one IP number had 3,007 page hits
on one of my sites -- all in a five-hour period. About thirty per minute with
a couple of breaks, between 7:00 PM and 11:45 PM EDT on March 1st. IP number
80.174.76.41. Someone in Madrid, Spain. Golly!

I was wondering if anyone here takes any precautions on their sites. Do you
have code that "catches" crawlers, and if it's not Google or a common / known
crawler do you block them from accessing your site, or at least slow them down
a little?

I don't mind having a spike in my stats, but only if it's real.

Thoughts?

I think I've asked this question before, but couldn't find it in the archives.

Mik
