ah excellent thought. I was focusing on the pdf side of things! I had found the presubmit() method in livecycle and was twiddling with trying to get it to do a bulk replace of commas with some other delimiter.
I can't imagine this hasn't come up somewhere before. I searched for awhile and couldn't find any references.
