I added a missing template in CFADMIN and then followed the instructions in this KB article http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=95ee04fb&sliceId=1
and in firefox everything was good - worked as expected. in IE7 however it seemed to be merging the missing template code with the actual code for the page requested - giving weird hybrid results.
