For some time now I've been needing to do various character replacements to
get special characters into the correct format for various output. There are
two problems... html and xml.

For HTML I need to deal with cut and paste from Word documents and need to
convert things like smart quotes and (e.g., C to ©).

For XML I need to covert the odd characters to the HEX code values.

Thing is I've been writing these replace routines on the fly and they are
getting annoying and cumbersome.

Is there some CFC or some other standard routine out there I can use
stripping out and converting characters to the correct equivalents?

Thanks
Robert
