I shall evaluate all these ideas before deciding up on an appropriate solution for my needs. However, please answer one more question, if at all possible: How about using Amazon S3 (https://s3.amazonaws.com/) for secure storage and use another SFTP/SSH based upload/download user tool (e.g. http://trac.cyberduck.ch/wiki/help/en/howto/s3 or similar) - will that idea work?
