I can't find a reference on www.meetup.com/coldfusionmeetup to the archived presentation, but the basic idea is this:
Add a hidden form field that a user can't see, and therefore, won't fill in, and use it to trap a bot/spider. The bot doesn't realize the field is hidden and puts something in it. Check the field when the form is submitted for the presence of a value in the field. If there's a value in the hidden field, don't process the form. I love the idea and hope it works well. I'm going to implement it and see how it goes.
