it was run on the same machine with the exact same stress test program and
settings.
i ran the test with 4.5 then installed 5 then ran the test again. then i
retested on 5 then reinstalled 4.5 and got similar results. 4.5 won by a
smidgen in both cases.

Aside from CFAS, were all other things equal on both servers (processor,
RAM, users hitting the box, etc)?
