PervasiveSQL is a good product. I have used it in the past with CF and liked it enough to say I'd use it again. The server is fairly easy to set up and speed is comparable to most RDBMS systems. If you don't need support for transactions, I would go with MySQL. There are plenty of resources on the web and in print for it.
